Economy Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the Tertiary Education Loan Scheme (TELS) and Toppers scholars do not have to apply for government inflation-mitigation aid of $180, because they are already “in the system”.

At a press conference on Sunday where he explained how people can apply and how payments would be made, he said TELS and Toppers students at a number of organizations would receive payment.

“The higher education institutions covered by this TSLS (Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service) include University of the South Pacific, Fiji National University, University of Fiji, Corpus Christi Teachers College, Fulton College , Sangam Institute, Pacific Flying School and Advanced Aviation Training. ,” he said.

“There are also, we recognize, some tertiary students who are not currently receiving Toppers or TELS, they can also apply.

“They must apply online through the Online Inflation Mitigation System ( and will be required to provide their personal details, mobile phone number and proof of active registration and enrollment in one of the universities or higher education institutions to be eligible.

“Payment will be made on M-PAiSA or MyCash depending of course on their mobile operator.”

Sayed-Khaiyum said applications would close on September 30 and final payments would be made on October 31, 2022.

He said payments would be made fortnightly on September 1, September 15, September 30, October 14 and October 31.
