Haryana budget: No new tax, Khattar bets on education and agricultural initiatives : The Tribune India

Not proposing any new tax, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented a budget of Rs 1,77,256-crore for 2022-23 on Tuesday.

Emphasis has been placed on education, women’s empowerment, health, agriculture and rural development. Also, there is a push on capital spending to give a boost to the state’s economy.

Major announcements include tablets for all public school students in grades X-XII, safer transportation for girls, increased number of Sanskriti Model Schools from 138 to 500 and establishment of 50 STEM labs for integrated learning modeled on Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL).

To empower women, the Chief Minister announced an award, loans for entrepreneurs and hostels for working women. He said the state has set a goal to create and support 10,000 self-help groups in 2022-23.

For farmers, he announced a program on natural farming and a one-time settlement program for interest relief if the principal loan amount is paid by November 30, 2022. The program will be applicable to loans from companies primary agricultural cooperatives and the central district cooperative. Boards.

Khattar also announced the creation of three dedicated funds – the Climate and Sustainable Development Fund to achieve environmental goals, the Research and Innovation Fund and the Venture Capital Fund to promote entrepreneurship.
