Egyptian Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad moderated the session on climate finance during preliminary consultations ahead of the 26th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP26), with the participation of the European Union, and the US Presidential Envoy for the climate John Kerry.

During the session held on the sidelines of the United Nations pre-conference on climate change in Italy on Friday, parties discussed all contentious points regarding the issue of climate finance, taking into account all aspects of the question.

Egypt, in cooperation with the Vice-President of the European Commission for the Green Deal and the Swedish Minister of the Environment, led the working sessions on climate finance, in which a number of countries participated: States -United China, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Japan and Switzerland.

The sessions aimed to bring together the perspectives of developing and developed country participants, especially since climate finance is one of the most important elements of the Paris Agreement.

In addition, as chair of the session, Fouad listened to the proposals of the countries participating in the meeting, on strengthening the mobilization of climate financial flows.

After the end of the session, the president of the conference was informed of the results of this management with a view to its inclusion in the final report of the conference.

The meeting was hosted by the Italian Ministry of Environmental Transformation, in Milan, from September 30 to October 2.

Fouad said in media statements that the conference is a good opportunity to exchange views between parties on environmental issues in order to determine priorities and common actions that need to be taken to address climate challenges.

It is expected that the Egyptian Minister of the Environment will hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference, where she will meet several ministers concerned with the climate, in order to exchange visions and points of view before the COP26, which the Kingdom will chair in November. .
